Released in December 2011, this is The Weeknd's 3rd mixtape – the concluding part of a "trilogy" following "House of Balloons" and "Thursday." The track "DD" features a bold cover of Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana," quietly reflecting on the protagonist's past lovers and regrets over lost love, a theme explored in the previous two works. The sound, a fusion of dark R&B with ambient and electronic elements, is highly regarded as a culmination of The Weeknd's early work.
