Pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii takes on the challenging and difficult "Hammerklavier" once again!
His Deutsche Grammophon debut album is being released in Japan ahead of other countries!

The "Hammerklavier" is the piece that Tsujii performed when he won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009, and it is one of the most difficult pieces for a performer among Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas, both technically, intellectually, and in terms of its scale. Tsujii says, "It's a long piece, so it was very difficult to maintain my concentration." "I spent a lot of time preparing for the recording. The third movement was particularly challenging. The more I played it, the more I felt its depth, including making the music my own. Beethoven's circumstances resonate with my own experiences. Despite losing his hearing, he left behind wonderful and complex works like this sonata. That's why I approached it with respect for Beethoven."

In preparation for recording Liszt's song cycle "To My Distant Beloved," arranged for solo piano in 1816, Tsujii delved deeply into the six poems, just as he did into the music. "I was deeply moved by the poems. I thought that this expressive song cycle and the 'Hammerklavier' would create a great synergy," Tsujii said. Universal Music
