Richard Carpenter himself has rearranged many of the Carpenters' signature songs, including "Yesterday Once More," "Yesterday Were Here," "Close to You," "Superstar," and "Top of the World." With the elegant orchestral sound of the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, these classic songs have been reborn, richer and more elegant! Richard said that the original recordings were not always satisfactory due to budget constraints. This time, however, without such limitations and with the powerful support of an orchestra of over 70 musicians, he has created a collection of works that realize the sound he "truly wanted to create." The magnificent structure of the entire album, including the instrumental sections interspersed throughout, flows like a single suite, showcasing Richard's extraordinary passion for total composition that he has shown since his debut. Of course, Karen Carpenter's unparalleled vocals, which have become even more fresh with the remixing of the songs, are also a major highlight.
The Japanese edition includes the hit song "Please Mr. Postman" (US #1) as a bonus track. This marks the Carpenters' first "new" album in 17 years, since their 2001 collection of unreleased tracks, "Rainbow Connection: As Time Goes By." It's a wonderful gift from them as they celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2019. The Japanese edition is exclusively SHM-CD. Includes liner notes and lyrics translation.
