December 1st performance at Yokohama Arena, the opening night of the George Harrison and Eric Clapton joint tour held exclusively in Japan in 1991! George hadn't performed a concert since 1974. Moreover, it was a joint performance with his close friend Clapton. The world must have looked on with a mixture of envy and jealousy, wondering why it was only in Japan. They put on a whopping 12 performances between December 1st and 17th. Moreover, the fact that they even went to Nagoya, Hiroshima, and Fukuoka was something only possible in that era. The band at this time was mostly Clapton's tour members at the time, with Phil Palmer replaced by Andy Fairweather Low on guitar, and Katie Kissoon and Tessa Niles joining on backing vocals. And this was the same band that would appear on "Unplugged". The setlist was a very well-balanced selection, mixing solo and Beatles songs, with a significant number of tracks from his latest album at the time, "Cloud Nine." Clapton played only four songs, keeping it modest. As you know, this performance was made into a live album. However, there are two important points to note. First, you can hear Clapton's solo parts, which are cut from the official release. Second, the setlist was partially different only on the first day at Yokohama Arena and the second day at Osaka-jo Hall. "Fish on the Sand" was played on both days, and "Love Comes to Everyone" was only played on the first day. The Yokohama Arena performance was a rare day with two more songs than the other days. This tour was not initially planned to be recorded, so naturally there is no official recording of the first day. Therefore, this is an extremely valuable recording. A must-have for George fans.
