The album "John Williams in Tokyo" captures the concert in which John Williams, a legend who has shaped the history and sound of film music, made his first visit to Japan in 30 years last September and performed with the Saito Kinen Orchestra for the first time.

John Williams is a legendary composer and conductor with a brilliant record of awards, including 5 Academy Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards, and the recent "Best Instrumental Composition" at the 66th Grammy Awards, bringing his total to 26 Grammy Awards.

This work will be released physically in four formats: a standard CD, LP, Blu-ray, and a special deluxe edition with both CD and Blu-ray. The standard CD and LP editions will include 11 tracks conducted by John Williams, as well as "Tributes! (for Seiji)," conducted by Stéphane Denève, which will be released for the first time worldwide. The Blu-ray includes the entire concert, including the MC segments, from the first half conducted by Stéphane Denève to the second half conducted by John Williams. The Blu-ray video can also be enjoyed in three audio formats: stereo, surround, and Dolby Atmos. The special deluxe editions of the CD and Blu-ray are SA-CD hybrid editions using DSD masters. The SA-CD contains 17 tracks (excluding the MC segments) from both the first and second halves, while the Blu-ray includes the entire concert plus interview footage of John Williams and Stéphane Denève recorded specifically for this release.

John Williams came to Japan last September at the invitation of Seiji Ozawa to perform at the "Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival," which Ozawa serves as general director, and to perform a special concert commemorating the 125th anniversary of the prestigious classical music label, Deutsche Grammophon. Following collaborations with the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and Los Angeles Recording Arts Orchestra, John Williams' first collaboration with the Saito Kinen Orchestra has now been realized. Tickets for both performances were in high demand and sold out immediately, generating considerable buzz.

John Williams and Seiji Ozawa have been close friends since Ozawa served as the 13th music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and organized the Tanglewood Music Festival in western Massachusetts. A collaboration between John Williams and the Saito Kinen Orchestra in Japan had been a long-held dream of Seiji Ozawa.
